PHIL UNDERWOOD SCHOLARSHIP

In November 2024 we lost our brother Phil.

Phil loved to teach, to pass on his knowledge and skills, clients often tell us of a little tip or something extra he passed on during a break on one of our courses. He always went over and above what was asked of him.

We want to retain his memory within Maddog Adventures and honour it by continuing his drive for imparting skills, knowledge and a passion for teaching others.

We intend to run a scholarship/ mentorship in his name. We will carefully select a participant that deserves or needs a place on the scheme and we will assist them in developing their survival, expedition and fieldcraft skills, we will teach them how to navigate and help them along the road to becoming an outdoor instructor, leader or guide depending on the individual.

Of course we can train a lot of these skills in house on our own courses, but wilderness first aid certification, lowland or mountain leader training, wilderness guide certification all cost money and are courses we cannot deliver alone.

So to this end we have set up a gofundme page this will pay for these external qualifications and we will be there every step of the way to mentor the participants on this scheme.

The funds raised will remain in the gofundme and those that follow us will be able to see where every penny goes as we will post updates on social media whenever we draw money down to send a student on some training.

We currently have someone who has started this path with us, an interview will follow on socials soon and we will announce how to apply, criteria etc for the next place opening up towards the end of 2026.
